Hof Strube (Jawitz), heute Könneker/Schock

Einfahrt

current street address: Im unteren Dorfe 25, formerly Breite Straße 54
The property was first mentioned in 1767/68 and at that time already comprised 123 morgens of land. By 1875, Carl Strube (a deputy of the Estates Assembly at the Königshof Hannover) already managed 130 morgens (approximately 33 hectares) of land and thus belonged to the large estates in Hohenhameln.

After the death of Gerhard Jawitz (descendant of Erna Jawitz, née Mener, and also indirectly of Carl Struve), the property was divided and sold to the municipality of Hohenhameln and the lawyer Gustel Wolff (Berlin). From there, it was subsequently sold indirectly to the present owners: Schock (residential house) and Uwe Könneker (barn and meadow).

Due to decades of deferred maintenance and water ingress, the impressive barn unfortunately could not be preserved and had to give way to a modern hillside shed.

The magnificent and beautiful lime tree on the property was planted to mark the birth of Gerhard Jawitz. It suffered lightning damage towards the end of the 20th century but was saved through vigorous pruning and the removal of dead wood after Uwe Könneker took over.
